Spokane is Opening a Mental Health Crisis Stabilization Facility
The Mental Health Crisis Stabilization Facility (MHCSF) in Spokane is scheduled to open in late summer/fall of 2021. It will be the first pre-booking jail diversion option for eligible individuals to offer a full range of medical, mental health and substance use treatment services all at a single location. Pioneer will be operating the program. Watch a video on the program below.
MHCSF is a safe transitional treatment alternative for individuals experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis who interact with law enforcement. When a person comes into the center, they receive a thorough needs assessment, assertive engagement into mental health counseling and substance use disorder treatment services, medication assisted treatment options, and individualized support and recovery plan development. Other services include: Housing enrollment, veteran programs, health insurance navigation, public benefit enrollments, primary care connection and case management.
This program is a voluntary alternative for individuals to break the cycle of the revolving door of the criminal justice system. They are eligible to have their charges dropped if the program is completed.
