Pioneer operates a high-quality institutional kitchen that provides fully-cooked meals to many of our residential programs, affordable meal options to other nonprofit organizations and work experience for our trainees. Our kitchen has state-of-the-art equipment for preparing, cooking and fast-chilling ready-to-eat foods. We provide more than 1,500 meals a day to extended care facilities, day nutrition centers and work release facilities in King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties.
The meals are prepared and delivered to our clients seven days a week / 365 days a year. Pioneer also provides on-site cooking staff for Harrison House senior housing facility in Kent.
Five-week menu cycles have been developed for our programs. The menus are checked by a certified nutritionist who is contracted by Pioneer. The nutritionist certifies that our menus comply with the Washington State and federal nutritional requirements to ensure all meals meet with the nutritional and dietary needs of the clients we serve. Trained diet aides are also on staff to accommodate special diet needs to include
- Soft mechanical (chewing difficulty)
- Diabetic Diet
- Gluten Free
- Low Sodium
- Kosher foods
- Other diet needs by request
Onsite training for your kitchen staff can be provided by Pioneer upon request for proper heating, portioning and serving of the meals. Safe food handling and food storage techniques can also be discussed with your staff.
